Camera Electronic

September 2022 - current

One of Australia's premier camera resellers, I started out as a sales person on the shop floor with the backing of Canon Australia as an in store representative. Within 3 weeks, I was promoted to the role of Store Manager for the Murray Street store. Not long after, I was asked to manage both CE and Wanderlust, the adventure and lifestyle offshoot of Camera Electronic, based at Murray St Perth.

After a period of approximately 12 months, I was again promoted to manage the main store of Camera Electronic, based on Stirling Street in Perth, along with the Murray St and Wanderlust branches.

In 2023, I also took on the role of the Operations Manager for a period of 4 months due to a staff member having long service leave, in addition to my own duties. This meant I was responsible for setting up the technical infrastructure of the Photolive 2023 event and maintaining a smooth operational process during the event. This included setting up a remote network for multiple registers, cabling and configuring multiple presentation rooms for video and audio, liaising with venue staff, presenters, customers and staff, along with being available for any issues on the day.

My role has seen a significant increase in responsibilities since I started. My day to day duties can include, but are certainly not limited to:

  • Face to face sales, over the phone enquiries, email and online sales
  • Complaint and dispute resolution
  • Main escalation point for staff and customer enquiries
  • Product research and study
  • Staff resource management
  • Cash handling and reconciliation
  • Valuation and purchasing of second hand goods / entering goods into the WAPOL database and creating SKU codes
  • Overseeing the IT infrastructure, resolving IT issues and creation of new users / new mailboxes
  • Setup of new users and managing user access in Tecom Plus security systems
  • Calculation of staff commissions and KPI monitoring
  • Assisting warehouse and accounts staff where needed
  • Assessing customer goods for insurance and repair purposes
  • Developing customer film in a Noritsu processor, scanning images and uploading for customer access
  • Printing customer images
  • Stock control and ordering
  • Merchandising of store stock
  • Creation and implementation of policies and procedures
  • Assisting with client communications, large sale negotiations and pricing

This role has given me a lot of autonomy with the management of the stores, and has required a fluid approach to my days. Being able to think on my feet and multitask has been absolutely crucial in performing this role.
